New Vienna is a village located in
Clinton County, Ohio. As of the
2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,294.
New Vienna was incorporated June 7, 1853.
With increasing population, the New Vienna grade school was started in 1860,
becoming an independent district. The New Vienna Bank (now First
National Bank and Trust) was organized in 1876, with Edward T. Arthur as
cashier, and other businesses were established and flourished as the years
past.
Demographics
As of the
census of
2000, there are 1,294 people, 497 households, and 330 families residing
in the village. There are 555 housing units. The average
household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 3.16. In the village
the population is spread out with 31.0% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to
24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 19.6% from 45 to 64, and 9.4% who are 65 years of
age or older. The median age is 32 years. The median income for a household
in the village is $31,750, and the median income for a family is $36,339.
New Vienna is part of the East Clinton Local
School district. There is one elementary school. Middle School
and High School are located in Leescreek, Ohio, combined with the village of
Sabina.
